چکیده

Abstract Introduction Growing evidence suggests that sleep disturbance might be a risk factor for cognitive impairment in older adults. However, the association between device-based duration, quality and function midlife is poorly understood. Methods We examined 526 Black White men women who completed examination at baseline from 2003 to 2005 had cognition evaluated 11 years later Coronary Artery Risk Development Young Adults (CARDIA) study, Sleep duration was assessed objectively using wrist activity monitor subjectively by Pittsburgh Quality Index (PSQI). Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST), Stroop test, Rey Auditory Verbal Learning (RAVLT), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) Letter Fluency Category tests. Results This study included 305 (58%) 229 (44%) people, with mean age of 40.1±3.6 baseline. After adjustment age, sex, race, education, smoking, body mass index, depression, physical activity, hypertension diabetes, actigraphy-measured fragmentation index (calculated as sum percentage time spent moving immobile periods ≤ 1 minute) significantly associated all measures cognition, except fluency. Every standard deviation increase worse executive [DSST (b=-1.80, 95%CI: -3.20, -0.41) (b=-1.23, -0.25, -2.21)], verbal learning [RAVLT (b=-0.41, -0.66, -0.82)] global [MOCA -0.74, -0.16)]. Poorer maintenance (RAVLT) (MOCA) similar magnitude. did not find any objective or subjective cognition. Conclusion rather than function, among middle-aged women. important health midlife.
